A series of drawings I made during a visit to south of Italy in September 2020. Colored pencils on top a gesso layer on paper.
The earthly red landscape surrounded by the sea on one side. The encounter with this specific site evokes old and new memories, latent feelings, dreams. A strong nostalgia for the sea. It provides a visual mnemonic of stories I heard in my childhood. Overlapping of senses imagining the future. The mutual interaction between full and empty space: the mystery. The shapes around me seemed to awaken, to come alive.
